September 3. Day 246. No flies on me

Susan's survival strategy. Keep your head down and blend in. There's nothing terribly wrong with being part of the furniture (provided you are more like a favourite comfy couch and not like the old television cabinet that is ugly, no longer has any useful role and you just want to get rid of it preferably by taking to it with an axe). But seriously at least during work hours I like to be one who notices what's going on while avoiding drawing no attention to myself. It works in most workplaces as so many others seem so desperate to be noticed that it's easy to fly under the radar. This is, of course, a singularly useless technique if your game plan is to be promoted but mine is not. My plan is to do my job well while keeping the water around me as calm as possible. I like to be the ultimate in still waters running deep - a placid exterior hiding a passionate nature. I know this is the third time in a week that I've turned to a lizard to draw out a metaphor for today but so be it. This bloke at South Bank seemed to sum it up perfectly. Most of what it going on is hidden from view - out of sight, out of mind. The tiny bit that is on show so blends in that the other creatures around the place don't even notice. Nice work Mr Lizard. There's no flies on you

  2. We Australian types get very blase about things that creep and crawl (although my sister always hated them as a child)

  4. New term for us, and I'm sinking massively. I'm not even showing a peaceful exterior, I'm really struggling. To be fair to myself, I have changed roles and am back as a class teacher for the first time in five years. It's hard work!

Thanks for linking up to Project 365.
