I'd like to say that it's not every day you see a person in a Spiderman suit riding a skateboard down the main street of West End. I'd like to say that generally speaking people are not pushed through the streets in wheelbarrows. I could argue that stiltwalkers, daleks and cartloads of children in an Alice in Wonderland tea party re-enactment never happen in West End but all that would probably be a lie. One of the really great things about West End is that you never quite know who you will see and what they will be doing. It's the kind of place where people don't really see any need to fit in to any particular cultural group or convention. Be what you like and how you like. Of course, having said that you could see any of those things, but even in West End you would be most unlikely to see them all at once. Except today. Today was the 7th annual Kulipa Derby and anyone with a set of human powered wheels was invited to roll down the main street and so they did - in huge numbers. After all when there's a steep hill and you've got a set of wheels it's practically begging for you to slide down it, right? And if you just happen to be dressed as a super hero at the time, all the better.
This is where I was going to take a photo a day in 2012 but forgot to stop. I also write something random to give you an insight into the craziness that is Susan's mind.

September 7. Day 250. Derby Day

Great photos. People shots are always my favourite. This 'derby' makes my sleepy suburb feel very dull.
