I remember how excited I was when 1984 became the present instead of this literary image of the future. Next week we reach another such milestone. In 1989 Back to the Future 2 saw Marty McFly (Michael J Fox) travel forward to October 21, 2015 to a world where there were personal hoverboards and self tying shoelaces. RIPPED OFF. Unless there are going to be some huge announcements in the next week these things have not happened. Still the Back to the Future movies were such fun it's hard to think about them with anything but fondness even if their predictions turned out to not be entireley spot on. This is why I love Brad Gaffy. The Brisbane man not only has a genuine DeLorean DMC-12 but has fitted it out exactly like the one Doc had in the second film. His reason for doing so seems to be because it is fun. I love that. Fresh from checking out the vehicle outside the ABC Studios at South Bank this morning I strolled through the parklands and met Keith and David who were displaying awesome soccer skills. i asked if they were training for something and they explained that it was just a totally fun way to get a good workout. How cool it that? Who said it was girls who want to have fun?
