You really don't need to go that far back to think of a different Brisbane. That Brisbane was really, really conservative and intolerant. It was small town values in a growing city. Brisbane has changed as has the world as a whole. It has grown up. What we saw at the Powerhouse tonight would have had no part in the old Brisbane. But The Melt Festival is a celebration not just of queer culture but of a city that has changed. It is bright and colourful. It is zany and crazy. It dazzles but at times makes your heart cry. Sequins and sobbing and sex organs made from stockings and fur. It's all happening in Brisbane nowThis is where I was going to take a photo a day in 2012 but forgot to stop. I also write something random to give you an insight into the craziness that is Susan's mind.
