In a former like as an editor of a parenting magazine, I wrote a feature about the dangers of trampolines.
Injury experts filed my head with statistics about broken bones and even about small boys losing a scrotum after coming off and landing spread-eagled between the bars or springs.
It rather put me off trampolines - until we bought one. We put in heavy duty mats and put in place strict rules restricting use to one child at a time and there were no injuries. It was totally the best thing we ever bought. It was well used and well loved and a great source of exercise or sometimes just a nice shady place under the tree to read a book or chill.
We've moved and no longer have a trampoline but the kids across the road do and they use it all the time. This is five-year-old Kirralee showing off her stuff. Brilliant
I know my son would love a large trampoline, think i'll wait a few more years until they're a bit older though first. This photo is fab, you captured the fun and excitement brilliantly!
ReplyDeleteWe have a trampoline here at Coombe Mill. All the children enjoy it from tiny tots to my older kids. With the safety net around the edge they are pretty safe, though I do fear for mine landing awkwardly as they practice ever higher somersaults! Thank you for sharing on Country Kids.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great shot!capturing the action
ReplyDeleteFab! Love trampoline shots! :)
ReplyDeleteA&E dept hates them esp for under 5's who suffer "shaken baby syndrome" not so bad in older kids as you say one at a time, more than that you end up woth broken limbs as they land on each other
ReplyDeleteFab action shot! It is true that you have to be a little cautious with trampolines but they are such brilliant fun, my kids love ours and I must admit I quite like it too!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant capture. Yep, those stats make me squeamish too but what child wants to live in a bubble? Tough being a parent sometimes, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteI think it was my last weeks post on this topic - mine use them all year round http://pinkoddy.wordpress.com/2012/06/15/why-you-should-get-a-trampoline/
ReplyDeleteIronically my boy has just broken his arm but that was walking across a very low wall.
Amazing shot, although you've terrified me more about trampolines with the scrotum mention!
ReplyDeleteI thought I commented on this yesterday, oh well will again :)
ReplyDeleteLovely shot, we have a trampoline but not up yet as every-time we go to do it the weather is awful, fingers crossed this week, although little man does go to a club every week and has a go xxx
Oh, she looks like she's having a fantastic time on it, great action shot! I think they're probably quite good exercise for little ones but I am reluctant to have one in my garden as those available in the UK seem to take over any space available!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up.
